There is a time when two people fall in love and cannot conceive life without the other. They either get married or move in together. Some times, the consummation of their love produces a child. However, what happens when and if that love for one another fades away? In most cases, the parents end their relationship and one of them, usually the father, becomes an absent parent in the child's life. What happens to that child? "Abandoned" is a compilation of three stories as told by adult children who grew up without one of their parents in their life. This book reveals the emotional and psychological consequences children suffer as they grow up feeling rejected and unloved by one of their parents. It is the hope of the authors to bring this issue to the forefront of social conscience so absent parents may be held accountable for more than just financial neglect. But, more importantly, we hope that by exposing the adult child's perspective and feelings, we will help prevent other children from growing up with this void and emotional consequences.
